Thursday, 22. March 2018 - 19:30 until 21:00
  • ‘Over 18’ a documentary film about pornography that we will be screening free of charge at St Mark’s Gabalfa at 7.30 on 22nd March 2018.

The feature-length documentary was made by Christian couple Jared and Michelle Brock of the anti-human sex-trafficking organization Hope for the Sold. It is an attempt to educate and inform people about the huge danger that online pornography and pornography addiction presents today, especially among children and teens. However, the film is relevant to all of us because it is a wake up call to the church, alerting us to what children and adults can be exposed to online.

A trailer for the film can be viewed at the film’s website (over18doc.com).

    Did you know that t:
in 1975, Playboy magazine had a circulation of 5.6 million. Today more than 100 million people visit adult sites monthly
6 out of 10 girls are exposed to pornography before the age of 18
9 out of 10 boys are exposed to pornography before the age of 18
The first exposure to pornography among men is 12 years old, on average

The film features interviews with interviews with porn producers, ex-porn stars, academics and more. The film is not pornographic in any way but it may well shock you. There are some descriptions of sexual and violent acts that are typical in contemporary pornography. As a result the makers of the film suggest it is suitable to those over 16.

In addition to screening the film we will be discussing how you can protect yourself and your family from the problem of pornography.
